| Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2007 01:06:53 -0800 From: "Harvey Keh" Subject: Support for Gov. Ed Panlilio
Dear Fellow Filipinos,Good day to you!Last October 13 , Governor Ed Panlilio of Pampanga came out to declare that he was given P 500,000.00 in cash which came from a Palace Staff Member in Malacaņang. The money was allegedly given for baranggay projects and to support candidates for the upcoming baranggay elections. Since Gov. Panlilio's admission, there have been other local officials and congressmen who have admitted to receiving money from Malacaņang as well. Up until today we still don't know where this money really came from.
But since then, Gov. Panlilio has been under fire because of doing the right thing. Right now, local officials in Pampanga led by Vice-Gov. Yeng Guiao are ganging up on him and marginalizing him by not respecting his authority as governor. Media Publications in Pampanga are even being used to destroy his credibility. If one looks at Gov. Panlilio's performance thus far in the less than 6 months that he has been in office, the results would speak for itself. He was able to raise the same amount of quarry taxes in less than 2 months compared to the former governor who raised the same amount in 1 year. Due to this, mayors and board members are now demanding part of this collection money and are blackmailing Gov. Panlilio by not passing important policies that will benefit the constituencies of Pampanga.
Isn't this a familiar refrain in our country? Someone does good and yet he is often punished for doing what is right? And worse, while this is happening many of us just turn a blind eye without doing anything. We just shrug it off and move on with our lives. It is no wonder why majority of our government leaders are becoming bolder and bolder in becoming corrupt, since for them no one would dare complain about it.
In short, we deserve the kind of leaders that we have because we continue to do nothing despite the fact that we see that there is something wrong. And this is why I am writing to appeal to you right now. I'd like to ask for a few minutes of your time to send an E-mail of support to Gov. Ed Panlilio. Let us all tell him that we are behind him in his quest for the Truth. What is at stake here is not only the people of Pampanga but the nation as a whole. Gov. Ed exposed what has long been happening in Malacaņang and now he is being punished for it. Will you do something about it?
If yes, then please send an email of support to Gov. Ed Panlilio at wesupportgovpanlilio@gmail.com and help even more by forwarding this E-mail to all your friends.
We will print the E-mails that you send and give it to Gov. Panlilio, to show him that he is not alone in his quest for the Truth. Let us show the world that the Filipino people will not just allow another Good Man to fail and let evil prevail.
Thank you for your time! May you have a pleasant day!Sincerely,Harvey S. KehDirector for Youth Leadership and Social EntrepreneurshipAteneo de Manila University-School of Government

| From a GomBurZa Priest... a Jesuit
Dear Friends, peace! Ruby (a professor at U.P.), Diane (also from U.P.) and I were able to visit Fr. Robert and Ed Castro in Camp Crame this morning. Some TV station had stationed a camera on the sidewalk just across the gate of the compount where the Manila Pen "rebels" were being held; they were filming the people going in and out of the compound. The security check was strict but not overly so, and the guards were all cordial (Pinoy pa rin, kahit papaano). We had to sign in, surrender IDs and cellphones, and had to be body-checked. Before entering the receiving area, we had to sign in again, and I had to surrender my medicines (my simvastatin, aspirin, and my rehydration salts). Ed was waiting for us. Guests, many of them parents, wives, children, family and friends, were there already, visiting such as JV Bautista, RJ Guevarra (an Atenean), and some of the soldiers. We saw Senator Trillanes with his own guests. General Lim we did not see at all. Ed and Fr. Robert looked fine. Robert is bunked with General Lim, right next to the room of Trillanes. He has been a comforting presence it seems among the inmates there. I even kidded him that that was perhaps part of God's plan, that he should be there to give comfort and to listen to the stories of the people held there, including to their confessions. The earliest that the civilians in the group could be set free may be Wednesday. Their lawyers are working overtime to get them released (while the cases are going on). Unless the charges are really the most serious so that they could not be granted liberty. RJ Guevarra, who if I am not mistaken is a lawyer and used to write a column for Business World, asked whether the Jesuits or the Ateneo were releasing a statement. Robert seemed in fine spirits. He missed his plane for Hong Kong. He was set to celebrate mass with the inmates at 12:30 this afternoon. We left at around 11:30. People were still streaming in for visits. We met Eta Rosales and company on our way out. We may quibble about the circumstances that brought Robert and Ed to where they are now. But it is laughable that they would be charged with rebellion or with trying to bring this government down. Visitors are most welcome. Visiting hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. We should continue to be vigilant. We may not agree with the Manila Pen affair, but we should not forget the underlying causes and reasons for the continuing frustration many people feel about how this government is performing. Fr. Tony

| Dancing With God When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing 'dance' at the end of the word And I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, And everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, Both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back Or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, And attentiveness from one person And gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word Guidance. When I saw 'G': I thought of God, followed by 'u' and 'i'. 'God, 'u' and 'i' dance.' God, you, and I dance. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life and once again, I became willing to let God lead. My prayer for you today is that God's blessings And mercies are upon you on this day and everyday. May you abide in God, as God abides in you. Dance together with God, Trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life. | |

| Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger?
There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese Legend...
Thumb represents your Parents Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings Middle finger represents your-Self Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner & the Last (Little) finger represents your children Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip [img(271,185)]http://us.mg3.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f8218%5fNow, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later. Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)... ., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.
Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)... ., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.
Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT....., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!!
Please try this out......... .... ISN'T THIS A LOVELY THEORY?
