Benedict XVI Reflects on the Good News of Christ

VATICAN CITY, JAN. 27, 2008 - The healing miracles that Christ performs in the Gospel demonstrate that God has drawn near to humanity, says Benedict XVI.

Addressing the crowds gathered today in St. Peter's Square to pray the midday Angelus, the Pope reflected on the beginning of Christ's public mission as recounted in the Gospel of Matthew.

The Holy Father said that the "good news" that Jesus proclaims can be summarized by the expressions used in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark: "The kingdom of God," or the kingdom of heaven, "is near."

He noted that these expressions do not refer to an earthly kingdom "limited by space and time," but rather they proclaim "that it is God who rules, that God is Lord and his lordship is present -- actual -- it is being realized."

The Pontiff continued: "The novelty of Christ's message is that in him God has drawn near, he already reigns in our midst, as the miracles and the healings that he accomplishes show."

"Where Jesus comes, the Creator Spirit brings life and men are cured of diseases of body and spirit," said Benedict XVI. "The lordship of God is thus manifested in the total healing of man."

He continued: "With this Jesus wants to reveal the countenance of the true God, the God who is near, full of mercy for every human being; the God who makes a gift to us of life in abundance, of his own life.

"The kingdom of God is for this reason life that affirms itself over death, the light of the truth that scatters the darkness of ignorance and falsehood."

It is true that the Kingdom of God is coming near....Lahat ng signs ng Kanyang pagbabalik ay makikita na... Sabi nga sa Bibliya, tayo ay dapat maging handa sa kanyang pagdating...ihihiwalay ang tupa sa kambing at kukunin ang lahat nang sa Kanya ay sumasampalataya...

Here's my humble opinion, people tend to look for "visible" miracles, tulad ng santong lumuluha, pag-ulan ng bulaklak, pagbulwak ng tubig na nagpapagaling at kung anu-ano pa. Pero nakakalimutan natin na mula pagmulat ng mata nating sa umaga, pagtibok ng puso nating, paghinga natin, at ang buong buhay natin ay isang malaking himala na.

kung yung mga ibon sa himpapawid hindi ngaugutom, mga hayop sa parang handi rin nagugutom, tayo pa kayang mga anak niya. pag and anak ba humingi ng pagkain, bibigyan ba siya ng bato? meron tayong mapagmahal na Diyos, ewan lang bakit kung san san pa tayo tumitingin.

SI Hesus lamang ang ating kailangan...Hindi ang anumang relihiyon....Jesus saves not the religion pero malaking tulong din na may nagga-guide satin para sa mas malalim na pananampalataya...

kuya bart, kahit kelan hindi pinabayaan ng DIos ang kanyang anak tama ka diyan...pero merong mga pagkakataon na akala natin binabalewala tayo ng DIos subalit hindi...tinuturuan Niya tayong maghintay sa tamang pagkakataon...Kailangan lang tayong maging matiyaga..

I have nothing against any religion....

gusto ko lamang pong bigyang diin na kung naniniwala tayo sa Panginoon dapat nating sundin ang Kanyang kalooban....gumawa ng mabuti at makaroon ng kabanalang nagmumula sa Dios...pero nais ko rin pong ipaunawa na hindi porke't gumagawa ka ng mabuti o tumutulong ka sa kapwa ikaw ay magkakaroon ng buhay na walang hanggan sa piling ng Dios...higit pa ring dapat nating gawin ay manampalataya sa Panginoon at kalakip ng pananampalatayang ito ang mabubuting gawa...
