Kumakalam na tiyan, hadlang sa Kaalaman
I know that death is for real but its different when its starting at you and any moment he can just snatch you. Immediately, I realized that I was not prepared. I was not a bad person but I was not facing up to my moral obligation to my fellowmen
(Violy a native of Benguet)
This are the words we will always be remembered by our Mom who passed away last 2001. She was diagnosed with cancer of the ovary in 1985, spent her remaining moments with other cancer patients and their families, freely offering her services as a psychologist. In 1990 started an exercise to build a new, extended and unique family by adopting handicapped children like us. They teach and love us unconditionally and sent us to school. But unfortunately not every school are equipped or accessible for disabled children like us. It was then that our adoptive parents thought of doing an alternative education for us to be able to study.
Our family became involved in providing assistance to various communities in the form of education, livelihood training, psycho-social rehabilitation and paramedical services.
If I share my story, maybe someone with the capacity to do something will read this and follow suit
. If they can only do something like this for one person and save one soul

Most of us focusing on educations but we forgot to focused on educations psycho-social and emotional aspects. What we have been planning before was a special education program for handicapped people until our program branched out serving delinquent and undeserving out of school youths. If given a chance, these youngsters could be the best students. We can instill in them the proper values formation (from moral/spiritual, human/social and to the intellectual/professional) that would prepare them for a much better life. We could train them for their day to day subsistence. We setup a non formal school that will show to our youth and community in general that is more to life than just the everyday family and social problems they see?
We believe that it is best to put our resource, time and energy to worth wile causes. We know that there are other pressing problems as well, after 17 years we are continuing our mission and moms dream inspite and despite of lack of resources and financial assistance. But it has to be done, and the undeserved kids have to be served. Moreover, we should not be bothered with obstacles. We should not stop. In Fact, we believe we are just beginning the long journey towards attaining the goals and YOU CAN BE PART OF IT.
Wheel to our hearts is our Wheel to Progress
We believe that an effective education will be achieved only when the students have the necessary resources to achieve their goals. Included in these basic resources for learning is a healthy mind that is adequately nourished.

However, despite this basic premise of adequate nourishment to learn, most of our students are deprived from getting sufficient food. Coming from impoverished families, the students are malnourished giving them another impediment to learn despite their willingness to obtain an education. These circumstances have prompted us to embark on a feeding program (Kumakalam na tiyan, hadlang sa Kaalaman ) that would allow them to learn effectively. We are hoping that you or your organization/corporation/institution would be able to give us assistance to augment our meager resources.
Our target students in this alternative learning system are the disadvantaged children from poor families. Our school provides these services for free and are based on the standards set by the Department of Education.
These are some stories of our less privileged students...
My Name is Alexander Cinco, 13 years old, I live with my grand parents together with my other two siblings. I was very young when our parents got separated. Since then, we never saw our father, but our mother is visiting us sometimes. It was tough for everyone, specially for me and older brother because when we were growing up, our father was the one providing us with all our needs, as with to our youngest brother it didnt effect him that much, since he was just a baby when our parents left us.Our Grand Parents are old, they took the responsibility of taking care of us and in spite of their condition, they were able to send us to school from kinder to grade 3. But due to financial incapacity we were obliged to stop from studying and help them raise money for our daily needs. I sell scapulars and I also learned to beg for alms on the street. If Im lucky, I get to buy a meal for every body but that rarely happens.
Ambition: To finish highschool
I am Monica Dela Cruz, 7 years old. Living with my Lola whose working as a Manghihilot this is where we get our means of living and its not enough. So most of the time in a middle of school year we always stop due to lack of money. We dont eat breakfast before going to school and we walk back and forth from our house to school, even though is hard because of our financial status how I wish that I can finish my studies and pursue my dream.Ambition: To be a singer
We are therefore appealing to your good side and good heart to assist us in implementing this feeding program Kumakalam na tiyan, hadlang sa Kaalaman . Whatever contribution (cash or in kind) you could impart to our school would go a long way in alleviating the plight of these disadvantaged learners. We deeply appreciate your help in any way.
